Try the chemical-free weed control solution sweeping the Netherlands
Weed control contractors in glyphosate-free country the Netherlands have found a “beautiful” way to control weeds while allowing local wildlife to thrive.
They have bought over 60 RootWave Pro machines between them and are using electricity to kill weeds, boiling them from the root upwards.
The feedback from users has been excellent, with most saying they are not considering any other methods for the tasks for which they use RootWave Pro.
You could win a free two-week trial of a RootWave Pro by visiting stand G041 at SALTEX, where any visitor can book a demonstration at their site and one lucky winner will win a two-week trial.
Invasive species
Chris Verstappen, Director, Ibor Advies BV has recently used a single RootWave Pro to clear a one hectare area of Japanese Knotweed around a storm drain. He said: “We want to be environmentally friendly. We have so much more to offer than chemical products and we want to stay that way.” Chris has been impressed with the manoeuvrability of the machine, which helped him with his treatment programme tackling the large, thick Japanese Knotweed stems that were growing on hard to access banks.
Parks and gardens
Arnold Heijmans, Director, Heijmans Dienstverlening uses RootWave Pro to treat invasive species in public areas, enjoying the peace of mind that comes from knowing areas used by the public are free of chemical residues at all times. He said: “With RootWave Pro we are attacking the root, you get either no grow-back or significantly reduced grow-back and the beautiful thing is, because you are targeting only the invasive species the local plants are not affected.”
Rivers, road and rail
RootWave Pro has delivered great results in industrial settings such as the Port of Rotterdam and in the UK on the London Underground. Craig Ward, who managed the project for Transport for London said: “We are seeing massive savings by using RootWave Pro. We are able to use a smaller operational team, we are clearing areas with fewer treatments, and we don’t have to dispose of the Japanese Knotweed – we can leave it in situ to compost down.”
