New Ventrac Boom Mower
The Ventrac 4500 compact tractor and the recently introduced Boom mower is ideal for maintaining hedges, roadside verges, the edges of ponds and riverbanks in safety, as it is can tackle inclines of up to 30 degrees.
This recent introduction provides yet another implement for landscaping applications as it’s the perfect tool for cutting back hedges, shrubs, saplings, reeds around pond edges and vegetation on riverbanks.
The reciprocating cutting head, with a reach in excess of 2.74 metres (108 inches), features a double action 91.4 cm (36 inch) sickle bar with an auto-levelling system, which keeps the head at the desired angle of cut for consistent operation. Its out-front mounting system provides excellent visibility and comfort for the operator and like all Ventrac attachments it’s quick and easy to install and folds into itself for compact storage.
Maintaining verges beside highways is always an issue, usually resulting in lane closures and other safety measures, so time is of the essence. The Ventrac 4500 with its choice of mowing decks is a highly productive combination allowing large areas to be mown, quickly and efficiently. Easy servicing of belts and pulleys is provided by hinged and removable covers. The tilt-up decks provide easy access to the heavy-duty blades that counter rotate to cut and deposit waste evenly without windrowing.
Rupert Price, Managing Director of Ventrac’s UK distributor, Price Turfcare says, “We had considerable interest in the Boom Mower when we demonstrated it at Turf Maintenance Live back in October. We were asked by the grounds manager to trim the hedge behind our demonstration plot and it did a very acceptable job and quickly. It was very wet on the final day and with a ground pressure of just 6 psi, we left no marks whatsoever.
“With a choice of three mowing decks, we have the solution for all verge mowing. If it’s overgrown, infrequently maintained areas we have the Tough Cut deck for this application and for more frequently maintained verges we have the two further decks that provide excellent results including a striped finish, if required, for prestigious areas.
“However, the key to the purchase of a Ventrac is its versatility. There is no other machine on the market that can mow in all weather, trench, stump grind, blow, reinstate pathways, prepare seed beds and much more, on 30 degree slopes.”
