In 2023, the UK saw a significant increase in the installation of robotic lawnmowers, driven by growing consumer interest in smart home technology and convenience. Approximately 200,000 robotic mowers were installed across the UK during the year. This surge reflects the increasing popularity and acceptance of robotic mowers as a practical solution for lawn maintenance.
The increasing installation of these devices is part of a broader trend toward automation in home and garden care, highlighting the potential for further growth in the coming years as technology continues to advance and become more accessible.
As a response to this trend Danarm Machinery Ltd have partnered up with Auto-Mow, the Danish manufacturer and distribution company who design, produce and sell innovative solutions for all aspects of the robotic lawnmower industry.
To protect the robot from all kinds of weather, Auto-Mow offers a variety of garages designed specifically for robot mowers. Tests have proven that the lifespan of the robot can be increased by up to 20% with a garage. The wooden garages are made of fast growing sustainable wood, have a 2-year warranty and are also suitable for RTK robots.
Another innovative solution comes in the form of the Hybrid Grass mesh mats that are now available. These mats are ideal to protect the turf in areas where the robot lawnmower does a lot of maneuvering, for example in front of the docking station or areas that remain wetter and cause the potential for the robot to get stuck or damage the lawn. The mats allow the grass to grow through but at the same time give protection to the turf and better traction for the robot.
Robotic mowers that work with a perimeter cable and guide wires are also catered for by Auto-Mow as there are many different options of cable available. Most noteworthy is their ‘Premium Safety’ cable; a 3-layer safety cable with metal protection and infused rodent repellent. This keeps the cable safe from accidental damage by spades and other garden tools as well as animal bites.
The cable can be buried in the ground with the help of a cable layer or pegged down on top of the turf. Eco-friendly biodegradable pegs are especially designed for this purpose. These pegs will decompose after 1-2 years by which time the cable is fully embedded in the lawn.
Danarm Machinery will be exhibiting at GroundsFest in September and have experts from Auto-Mow on the stand to discuss all this with you.
